Becoming One of the Fittest Men in the World
Already described as “The most interesting Ironman in the World” and the “Fittest and Mentally Toughest 66-Year-Old in the World,” our guest, Robert Hamilton Owens, turned fitness and health into a lifestyle.
Robert is a keynote speaker, leadership and management development coach, mediator, crisis coach, and former Air Force Pararescue. He finished the World Marathon Challenge known as 777, 7 marathons, in 7 days, on 7 continents. He also completed the “300 of Sparta,” an 8 day 238-mile run-climb trek from Sparta to Thermopylae, and is the oldest finisher of the SEALFIT’s Navy SEAL “Kokoro 50 Hour nonstop Hell Week Challenge.” Robert finished his 12th Ironman, and his goal is to become the oldest Ironman ever.
In this episode, Robert shares some amazing facts about his origin, his love for athleticism and fitness, and how training to get into the Air Force set him up for the intensity of physical pain. Robert described his first encounter with Ironman, why he decided to compete, and how he prepared for such a physically and mentally taxing race.
Robert also described his work as a physical and fitness trainer; he gave his thoughts on bullying and explained his approach to the subject with teens and young kids.
